We work Minnesota roofs year-round and know what freeze–thaw does to brick.
Chimney Liners & Flue Repair
The flue liner protects the masonry and the wood framing of your house from heat and acidic combustion gases, and it shapes the draft that pulls smoke out. Clay tile liners crack with age, heat and chimney fires, and gaps between tiles let heat and gases escape where they should not.
We repair or replace damaged clay tiles, resurface flues, and install stainless steel liners sized to your fireplace, stove, insert or appliance. When a furnace or water heater is replaced, we make sure its venting is correct too.
You call or send the form, we confirm a day and arrival window, the crew does the work and photographs everything, and we walk you through what we found and what it costs. No surprises, and a written price before any repair.

The clay tiles inside this flue had cracked and pulled apart. Heat and gases can escape through the gaps into the framing of the house, so a liner like this needs to be replaced before the next fire.
Moss holds water against the brick, and every freeze pushes the faces apart. The cap had rusted through too. We recommend cleaning, sealing and a new cap.
Several bricks under the crown had broken off, leaving open holes for water. This is fixed with brick replacement and tuckpointing.
We took the damaged top courses down to the flue tiles, then rebuilt with new brick, mortar and flashing.
On this rebuild we removed loose brick down to solid masonry and protected the clay flue liner before laying new brick.
A finished chimney with a new crown poured across the top and new caps on both flues to keep out rain, animals and debris.

FAQ
Have a question that isn't here? Send it with the form below.
Yes. A sound liner is required for safe venting. If your flue is unlined or the existing tiles are cracked, it should be relined before you use it.
A quality stainless steel liner that is properly sized and installed lasts many years and is far more durable than cracked clay tile.
Modern furnaces and water heaters run cooler and produce more condensation, so the old flue may no longer vent them safely. The venting needs to match the new appliance.
